How to get fit in 2017

With 2017 fast approaching, most of us will have a New Year’s resolution to become fitter and healthier once January comes around. Your resolution is clear and your goals are written down, however, I bet there’s a lot of people out there thinking, ‘How can I achieve this?’, ‘Where to start?’, ‘How do I begin?’.

Fear not, I’ve put together some options that will help you become a better version of you next year!

Partner Up
Grab a friend and achieve your resolution together. Use each other for motivation and encouragement. Sign up to a new class together, make healthier choices in regards to nutrition and adapt your habits and lifestyle positively. You’ll feel more motivated if you have someone else to support you along the way.

Free Day Pass 
Most gyms offer a free day pass for you to trial and see what their facilities are like. It will give you an opportunity to get a feel for the space and the equipment provided. Gyms will also offer you a complimentary induction giving you a brief show round of the facilities. Why not book in for a free pass with a couple of gyms, to see which one you prefer?

Online
YouTube is one of the most popular resources now for health and fitness, with many fitness bloggers and Personal Trainers sharing free content online. It is a great space to gain ideas for new workouts and research what new exercises you can incorporate into your workout routine.

Change Your Mind-set
You are the only person that can affect your mind-set. And with the right attitude you will be able to achieve whatever you want to. Focus on the positives in each situation and aim to achieve one new goal each week, however small that may be. Always those targets in your mind, it will help you channel all of your positive energy into your actions.

Enjoy
Find a form of exercise you actually like. There are so many different options out there now… Yoga, Pilates, CrossFit, Running, Weight Lifting, Cycling, Rock Climbing, Swimming, Netball, Spinning. Don’t isolate yourself into exercise that you don’t like as you won’t be able to sustain it. Once you have fun with what you’re doing, it won’t become a chore, it will become a hobby/lifestyle choice.

Try New Things
If you haven’t found what you enjoy yet, aim to try something new each month. You will meet new people, experience a variety of classes and it may open you up to something you never realised you would love. I’m hoping to go along to a CrossFit class in the next week or so, I’ll have to update you with how I get on.

Boot Camp
Boot Camps are a great way of socialising but also working out. A great opportunity to be outdoors and train at the same time. Five Star Fitness have multiple sessions running across Milton Keynes and have recently launched a women’s only class. Give them a search on Facebook on class info and prices!

Treat Yourself to New Gear
All the gear, but no idea? Who cares, treat yourself to a nice pair of trainers, some new leggings and own them! Wear them with confidence and work out. You won’t regret it, trust me.
